CAS Exhibition Burnley Harbour

The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. takes pleasure in inviting you to enter our eleventh Art at Burnley Harbour exhibition, a showcase of artworks by both established and emerging artists. We invite you to enter your contemporary-style artwork/s in a variety of media - painting, drawing, photography, mixed media & sculpture, etc.

Our last Art at Burnley Harbour (ABH) was a great success, with over 450 artworks on display, and with over 2000 visitors to our exhibition, and, as a result, we had many artwork sales! The festival has grown every year, and is promoted widely.

The exhibition will be open to the public for 4 whole days!
• Thursday 3 December (8am to 8pm)
• Friday 4 December (8am to 8pm)

ENTRY FEES & DEADLINE
• Entry fees: Only $7 per work. Maximum 6 works per artist.

• Current Members of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria may enter their artworks FREE* of charge (*conditions apply).

SCULPTURE GARDEN...
As for the last ABH, in addition to the main exhibition, we are pleased to feature our Sculpture Garden. There will be the opportunity to display sculpture that is suitable for placement either indoor and outdoors.

PROMOTION FOR OUR EXHIBITION
We are having several Real Estate Signboards promoting the festival installed in prominent locations around Melbourne's suburbs promoting the event, and well as placing advertisments in publications such as Art Almanac, sending out invitiations to our own extensive mailing list and targetted letterboxing. During the ABH show, our exhibition will also be seen by all the cyclists and pedestrians using the Yarra Trail (shared path) on the north bank of the Yarra River.

Dear artist

Have you never exhibited with us, or never exhibited at all, or have been experimenting with something different from your usual artistic practice?   Then Emerging, Experimental, Enigmatic! is your opportunity!

Art at Linden Gate is giving emerging artists, artists new to the gallery or artists experimenting with new ideas an exhibition from 16 October to 23 November  - this year!

To keep costs to a minimum promotion will be via Facebook, email & websites (yours and mine) and colourful DL cards for tourism businesses.

Any type of artwork including: paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, textiles, ceramics, glass, jewellery, sculpture (inside or out)

Details are:
$25 per artist  - 2/3 works - total space not larger than 1.2m x 1.2m
email with your details, photo of proposed work including media and dimensions.
Commission is 20% so factor that into your sale price
Art at Linden Gate reserves the right to refuse any artwork deemed unsuitable or sub-standard.
I need to know you are interested before 31 August

Limit is 18-20 artists (depending on size & medium) so get back to me before end of August.

Contemporary artists are invited to submit up to 4 brooches (small wearable artworks) for exhibition.

The Australian National Brooch Show 2015

The Australian National Brooch Show is an initiative of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. (CAS). The Society is a non-profit organization, run on a voluntary basis by artists for the benefit of artists and those interested in the arts. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and was founded in 1938.

This is the Eighth time we have held our Australian National Brooch Show - an exhibition small wearable artworks made by both established and emerging contemporary artists, and this exhibition offers all participating artists the opportunity gain exposure for their art at low entry cost. By having a theme of small wearable artworks, artist's have an opportunity to submit works via Australia Post.

Our last Brooch Show (2014) exhibition featured 278 art brooches on public display, representing 84 individual artists! We had extensive publicity, many favorable comments and great sales! (We sold over 25% of the works on display).

This year is the fifth year the exhibition has “gone on tour” to two venues in inner Melbourne, Victoria (see entry form for more details on venues):

South Yarra: showing 2 June - 30 July 2015
Fitzroy: showing 6 August - 25 September 2015

Entry is a low $5 (AU) per work.

Entry deadline: Return completed entry forms, correct payment and your works, by 22nd of May 2015.

All entries to be sent by Australia Post. Entry fees can be paid by PayPal (on our website) / cheque / money order / credit card / EFT.

Each artist can enter up to 4 Brooches (small wearable artworks) - see the ENTRY CONDITIONS  for the show.

A4 Art Australia


A4 Art Australia

An initiative of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc.

A National Exhibition of A4-sized contemporary art in an incredible range of styles and subjects - a delight to the eye and the imagination!

If you have not yet been to see our exhibiton A4 Art Australia, it continues this weekend (28, 29 March) and the Easter Holiday long-weekend (4, 5 & 6 April).

There are many beautiful and imaginative artworks in our show of over 370 A4 sized artworks still awaiting a red sticker, so come along and snap up your favourite ones! Prices are quite affordable. All 2-dimensional artworks come complete with a stylish black frame (under glass). You don't need much wall space to hang one or two!

Access to Herring Island (located in the Yarra River, Melbourne, between Richmond and South Yarra) is by Parks Victoria Punt Service 11am-5pm (on the dates mentioned above) leaving from Como Landing South Yarra, and the Gallery is open from 11.30am to 4.30pm.

What is A4 Art Australia?

A4 Art Australia is an exhibition of A4-sized artworks, hence the title. This exhibition showcases A4-sized artworks by both established and emerging contemporary artists and offers all participating artists the opportunity gain exposure for their art at low entry cost. By having a theme of A4 sized artworks, artists from all over Australia have an opportunity to submit works via Australia Post. All 2D artworks will be framed for the exhibition (see conditions) and entry is only $10 per artwork. All exhibited artworks will be photographed and exhibited on the CAS website.

Contemporary artists are invited to submit up to 4 A4-sized artworks for the exhibition.

Note: Both 2D & 3D works may be submitted.

A4 Art Australia is run by the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. The Society is a non-profit organization, run on a voluntary basis by artists for the benefit of artists and those interested in the arts. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and was founded in 1938.

A4 Art Australia  will be held in the Gallery on Herring Island, (Richmond) as part of the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival (HISAF) 2015 Melbourne. Herring Island is a unique island in the middle of the Yarra River, between Richmond and South Yarra, only 3km from the Melbourne CBD. The HISAF website is HERE .

The exhibition (and gallery) will be open to the public 11.30am - 4.30pm on the following dates: 21, 22, 28, 29 MARCH and 4, 5, 6 April 2015.

Entry cost: Entry is $10 (AU) per work...
Plus a fixed $5 postage charge for return of your unsold works (refundable if you sell all your work).
Additional size/weight-related postage charges may apply for 3D works.

On behalf of our Committee, we invite you to the CONTEMPORARY ART SOCIETY OF VICTORIA INC. ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2014 - a selection of Australian contemporary art by Members of our Society from artists at all stages of their careers from across Melbourne, Regional Victoria, and interstate.

Do come along and enjoy a wide range of artworks in various distinctive and contemporary styles and media - including painting, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture. Also on display at the exhibition will be a good selection of affordable unframed works-on-paper. Remember, if you purchase an original artwork, you are supporting Victoria's art community as well as having something nice to look at! Much nicer than staring at a blank wall!

Continuing our long tradition of having prominent artists as judges of our Annual Exhibitions, we are delighted to have Ivan Durrant as the judge of this year's show. He'll be awarding prizes worth over $4,600 including one for the most innovative use of materials at the opening on SUNDAY 7 SEPTEMBER, 3-6PM at GALLERY 314 in RICHMOND (see location above) - so come along and join us for drinks, share in all the excitement and mingle with fellow art-lovers.

If you miss the opening, why not come along to our ARTIST FLOORTALK on the following Sunday 14 September, at 4pm at the gallery. Prize-winners from the exhibition will be invited to give a talk to the public about their winning works, and answer questions about their art practice. Not to be missed!

The exhibition is open DAILY from 11am - 6pm, 8th to 21st of September. If you can't make it to see our show, all the artworks will be online on our website after the exhibition closes.

Contemporary by Nature


We would like to extend an invitation to you, and all art lovers, and lovers of nature, to visit our eighth Contemporary by Nature: An interpretation of the natural world, an art exhibition by members of Melbourne's own Contemporary Art Society of Victoria. It's part of the 2014 Herring Island Summer Arts Festival and opens Next Saturday!
Do join us for refreshments at the opening of our art show THIS Saturday 22 February, 12 noon to 2pm, in the Herring Island Gallery. If you can't make it to the opening, our show is open each weekend till Labour Day, Monday 10 March - we'd love to see you, and we're sure you'll love this year's show! Gallery open: 11.30am - 4.30pm.
Contemporary by Nature 2014 will include sculptures in forged steel and found objects, sculptures in precious metals and stones, oil and acrylic paintings on various surfaces, drawings and prints in numerous media, photographic and mixed media works, all interpreting aspects of nature in very different ways. Be it animal, vegetable or mineral, land or sea, storm or calm, night or day, light or shadow, there will be something to delight the eye, the senses, the imagination. Come and enjoy ....

Herring Island is in the middle of the Yarra River, just 3km from the city. The Herring Island Park is a haven for nature and art lovers alike. The exhibition will be held in the gallery on the island. There are several permanent sculptures made from natural materials that reflect the island's tranquil setting.
Access to Herring Island is by the Parks Victoria punt service from Como Landing (Melways ref Map 58, G2) and the service operates between 11am and 5pm. Punt charges: $2 per person or $5 per family, with pensioners, unemployed and children under 12 free. Car parking is available in Alexandra Ave.
In this exhibition, both established and emerging contemporary artists have explored aspects of nature, in a wide range of artistic media! Each day of the exhibition a different exhibiting artist will be "on duty" at the gallery. A great opportunity for you to ask questions about their artwork, and inspiration behind the work.
All images from the exhibition will be on the CAS website at the conclusion of the exhibition. And get updates about all shows on the Island from the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival website.

After the success of last year's show, we are now calling for entries for The Australian National Brooch Show 2014.
Contemporary artists are invited to submit up to 4 brooches (small wearable artworks) for exhibition.
See below more information on how you can enter our upcoming Australian National Brooch Show 2014. Both 2D & 3D works may be submitted.

The Australian National Brooch Show is an initiative of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc. (CAS). The Society is a non-profit organization, run on a voluntary basis by artists for the benefit of artists and those interested in the arts. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and was founded in 1938.
This is the Seventh time we have held our Brooch Show - an exhibition small wearable artworks made by both established and emerging contemporary artists, and this exhibition offers all participating artists the opportunity gain exposure for their art at low entry cost. By having a theme of small wearable artworks, artist's have an opportunity to submit works via Australia Post.
Each time this exhibition has grown - the 2013 exhibition was the largest exhibition of contemporary brooches ever in Australia, and internationally with 316 “brooches” on public display, representing 97 individual artists! We had extensive publicity, many favorable comments and great sales! (We sold over 25% of the works on display).
This year is the fourth year the exhibition has “gone on tour” to two venues in inner Melbourne, Victoria (see entry form for more details on venues):
Fitzroy: showing 3 April - 30 May 2014
South Yarra: showing 3 June - 30 July 2014
Entry is a low $5 (AU) per work.
Entry deadline: Return completed entry forms, correct payment and your works, by 14th of March 2014.
All entries to be sent by Australia Post. Entry fees can be paid by PayPal (on our website) / cheque / money order / credit card / EFT.

      OPEN CALL FOR 2014 APPLICATIONS

Brunswick Street Gallery is now accepting applications for 2014! (Deadline extended to September 30 2013). With multiple gallery spaces, we have a variety of approaches for our curatorial platform. Offering space for emerging art practice, BSG engages with contemporary theoretical approach. Exhibitions happen on a 2 week schedule, with all scheduled exhibitions opening simultaneously on Friday nights.

ARTISTS

Please send your C.V, up to 10 images, artist statement (pertaining to both practice and specific work intending to exhibit - no more than 1000 words) to miriam@bsgart.com.au. CURATORS

For the first time BSG is extending a platform for emerging curatorial practice. Please send your exhibition or project outline explaining the purpose and concept (600 -1000 words maximum, List of artists and a succinct description of their practice (100 words maximum) to miriam@bsgart.com.au. Images of approximately 40% of the artworks proposed for the exhibition - or if the work isn't made yet, links to the artist(s) portfolio/website, or images of current work.
